“Kilter” means balance, harmony. “Howling” means ‘very great’ – KilterHowling is a blend of the old and the new, a very great balance of technology and personal service, of balancing risk and return.
KilterHowling is also a perfect anagram of Kreighton & Will.
Kreighton Bieger, CFA
Prior to co-founding KilterHowling, Kreighton was Director of Research & Senior Portfolio Manager for Sargent Bickham Lagudis, (now Colorado Financial Management), then an $875m investment advisory firm. Previously, he was a member of the equity research team of Janus Capital Group, a fixed income analyst for one of the country’s largest corporate credit unions and worked for a GE Capital company. He began his career valuing privately held companies and minority interests. He is a past member of the advisory board for the Institutional Investor’s RIA Forum conferences where he has spoken on topics including benchmarking, fixed income portfolio management and alternative asset portfolio construction.
His experience includes asset allocation, portfolio management, security selection, business valuation and credit analysis. He is focused on designing portfolios that deliver risk-return profiles that help clients achieve their financial goals and sleep well at night.
Kreighton holds a B.S. in Business (Finance) from the University of Colorado Boulder where he graduated With Distinction. He has earned the right to use the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the Colorado CFA Society. Kreighton was previously a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. While at GE Capital Kreighton completed training in Six Sigma Green Belt quality, financial statement analysis and situational negotiation.
He is actively involved in the community and has previously served as Board Director and Treasurer of The Dairy Arts Center, on the Board and Finance Committee of Via Mobility, as Board Director for The Acorn School for Early Childhood Development and also the Capital Campaign Committee for the Wilderness Early Learning Center, and as a Board Trustee and Treasurer of the Boulder Rotary Club Foundation, where he was also a club member. He coached young ski racers for the Eldora Mountain Ski Club. Kreighton has lived in Boulder thirty years, and he currently resides in South Boulder with his two children.
Will Stites, CFA
Prior to co-founding KilterHowling, Will was Managing Director at Frontier Asset Management – a $1b+ asset manager serving the RIA space. Prior to that Will spent the majority of his career working in New York, Asia, and Australia for investment banks including Zurich Capital Markets, BNP Paribas and JPMorgan.
Will primarily worked in equity and fund derivatives throughout his career structuring portfolios of hedge funds, equity, commodity and fixed income exposure for ultra high net worth and institutional clients. After years meeting with some of the world's most sophisticated asset managers, his experience is anchored in the due diligence, portfolio building and deal structuring required to navigate investing in the alternative investment space.
His philosophy of investing learned over these many years mandates looking at both risk and return. Will's experience includes building investable alternative benchmarks, statistical return series analysis, using derivatives to breakdown financial problems, and of course conducting manager due diligence.
Will graduated from Miami University of Oxford, Ohio with a BS in Finance and is a CFA charterholder.
Will served as a board member for Western Resource Advocates (WRA). WRA uses law, science, and economics to craft innovative solutions to the most pressing conservation issues in the West. Will also served on the Investment Committee of The Community Foundation of Boulder.
Will grew up in Akron, Ohio. He has had extended family on the Front Range for over 30 years. He now lives in North Boulder with his wife Jessica and two daughters.
Dawn Oehlerich, CFP®, Senior Advisor
Dawn was the Principal Owner of Alba Capital Management in Whitefish, MT for the last 10 years prior to joining KilterHowling. Beginning her career as an advisor in 1986, she completed her CFP designation in 1994. Her business philosophy is centered on putting clients first with service and expertise.
Dawn grew up in southern Alberta, in a ranching community, one of seven children. Her education included a Major in French and Linguistics at Utah State University and the University of Montana.
Dawn has for many years been active in the Conservation community of Montana, serving as a Board Member of MEIC and the Flathead Land Trust. She has also been a certified Race Administrator for US Skiing serving on the board of USSA. Her two children competed as top level ski racers for Middlebury College, Montana State University and the Naval Academy. At present, Dawn loves to ski locally with her six grandchildren. Hiking in Glacier National Park isn’t so bad either!
